This time of year, we start to see signs that say, “Keep Christ in Christmas.” But Jesus was never about pushing faith on people or forcing others to observe religious practices. He just loved people, and they responded to that love. He didn’t just die for us–He lived His whole life for us and rose to continue to live for us.
That’s what Christianity has always been about, but for whatever reason, it’s easy to lose sight of that, especially in the season of giving, which is more often the season of struggling to get what we want. So this year, throughout the month of December until Christmas Day, I will be posting a daily suggestion how to truly keep Christ in Christmas: by letting others see Him in you. The suggestions will go out on my Twitter feed, so you can follow @crossfeednews or #KeepChristInChristmas, and please tweet your own suggestions with the #KeepChristInChristmas hashtag. (If you’re not on Twitter, post publicly on Facebook.) Christmas is all about what God gave up for us. And so then what can we give up for others?
Feel free to share this or just start using the #KeepChristInChristmas hashtag to spread the word and start the trend to show the world the self-giving love of Christ. Sharing this won’t prove you to be a Christian or anything like that, but it could make a difference in the life of someone who needs to know that love.
Oh–and don’t just share the suggestions. Show them. Not everyone will be able to do all of these, but do the ones you can, or come up with your own. The point is to begin to look at Christmas differently and change the world one tweet at a time.
